A very sweet little bus stop someone has created along our cycling route. It's at the front of their home and some mornings it is crowded with children and parents all having a chat before heading off for the day.<br />

Just love our early morning cycles up the valley floor. The road crosses the creek many times and this is where we stop to drink some water and contemplate just how lucky we are.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3878340960208827274.post-41032460461987002282015-11-23T19:41:00.003+10:002015-11-23T19:41:58.313+10:00RIP Elvis, welcome to our new beautiful rooster Liberace<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Unlike vegetables, I am new to flowers, so they are an experiment in colour, height and abundance. This spring Phlox has been the best producer of blooms, and has also flowered for a very long time. Next year I might try to grow them from seed. It's just lovely to have so much wildlife around the garden. Most animals around here are nocturnal, but the birds are around all day. This Basian Thrush and it's mate must be making a nest around here somewhere, because I keep seeing them around. Even more special when it decided to sit on the edge of our garden long enough for me to run inside to get the camera and take a picture of it.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3878340960208827274.post-15917418323700865532015-02-24T21:46:00.001+10:002015-02-24T21:47:42.910+10:00Still here and still gardening<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It's been a while, but we are still here. We looked at moving south to cooler climates. It's just so hot for such a long time each year, it's hard to get out into the garden. Good for people who want to spend their weekends inside or on the beach, relaxing in the shade. Our gardens don't like to be in the shade, and we certainly cannot afford to live on the beach. What would grow there anyway? So we found that apart from the long summers there are really no downsides to living in our patch of paradise. Especially now that hubby has a ride on mower for our acre or so of grass, instead of the old push mower. So, here we are for the time being anyway. We love the high rainfall we get in this area and we are making some good friends in the neighbourhood. Some other gardeners who are more than willing to offer advise, seedlings and cuttings, as well as some friendly neighbours we see on our walks and bike rides. This winter we got in and did a whole bunch of wonderful gardening. Planting, mulching and adding colour to our subtropical garden. This is part of the result of our winter playing in the gardens. Now we just need to learn to slow down in summer and relax by the pool instead of trying to garden in 30 degree heat.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3878340960208827274.post-80917734557498901832013-10-07T19:10:00.000+10:002013-10-07T19:11:23.293+10:00Flowers for spring<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I don't usually plant anything but edibles, but this spring I have been inspired by a few neighbours and have planted some flowers. This is my first time growing ranunculus, I think they are very sweet. So far they have come up pink, white and red. Can't wait to see if there are any other colours.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3878340960208827274.post-13252955932336415652013-10-04T08:09:00.002+10:002013-10-04T08:12:19.238+10:00Mullberries for breakfast<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
