Potato plants

Earlier this month I planted a bunch of potatoes and now they have popped up as small plants. It never ceases to amaze me when seeds or roots that "I" plant actually pop up out of the ground and grow. It's great fun!

The end of winter

The last days of winter are here, but try telling our garden it's not spring yet.

My favourite vegetable to eat has become one of my favourites to grow. I love the way they just keep on producing delicious flower heads long after the first one is picked. Half a dozen plants gives us enough for at least 2 meals a week.

Frost in the tropics

Potato Patch

Our first vegie bed has been planted with potatoes. We covered the grass with some lime, rock minerals and newspaper. Dug holes which we filled with worm castings and potatoes and then added some soil and horse manure. Now we just need to keep our fingers crossed that we get no frost and the plants do well.
