We needed somewhere to store our messy and muddy shoes after coming in from the garden, so today we went shopping and bought this great bench/cupboard to keep the area near the front door tidy.

Summer is over for another year. It wasn't such a good one for us with a sick cat, a large branch through the roof during a storm and all my tomatoes, capsicums and yellow squash succumbing to the humidity before they bore any fruit. On the bright side, we have had many frogs hatch from the tadpoles in our tiny pond and the tropical vegetables like Ceylon spinach and sweet potato doing very well.
This little fellow is smaller than my thumb and lives near our front entry. Either beside our Ganesha statue or on a Strelitzia Nicolai leaf. It's great to know that other creatures love living here as much as we do.

This is the first year the sandpaper figs have looked edible. Usually they are dry and cauliforous. This year they are delicious, but you need to get them at just the right time. There's a tree at the side of our creek that has really delivered. The jam I made from them is as good if not better than jam made from the Mediterranean variety of fig.
